Weatherization programs: The “extreme house makeover”

Home weatherization projects are home improvements to protect your home from the outside elements. This improves the energy efficiency of your home helping you stay comfortable while earning big savings.

Homeowners and renters are eligible. If you currently rent your house, the authorization of your landlord is required.

Weatherization Assistance Program: State program for limited income Marylanders

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community can assist income eligible Marylanders with free energy audits followed by weatherization intervention. This intervention may provide air infiltration reduction, insulation, hot water system improvements, lighting retrofits, furnace cleaning and tuning, safety repairs, and burner retrofits.

For Baltimore City residents: The LIGHT Team

Visit the Housing Authority of Baltimore City website and see if you are eligible for a variety of energy conservation measures! These upgrades include installation of attic insulation, air sealing your home with caulk, foam and weather-stripping, insulating your water heater tank with an insulation blanket, replacing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lights, installing low flow showerheads, and providing furnace/boiler cleanings and tune-ups or repairs to your heating system.
