Preferred Electricity Rate Program FAQ:

  1. What is it?
    1. The Fuel Fund Preferred Rate Program (FFPRP) is a program with Maryland Energy Advisors (MDEA), the parent company of Point, Click, Switch that will ensure that you are getting the cheapest energy supply rate available.
  2. How much will it cost me?
    1. Nothing. MDEA is paid by the supplier.
  3. How does it work?
    1. Once signed up, MDEA will sign you up for the cheapest supplier. At the end of the enrollment period, they will reassess to find the cheapest rate, and enroll you with that supplier.
  4. What do I have to do?
    1. Nothing, other than watch your savings! Should MDEA enroll you with another supplier, you do not need to do anything to continue saving.

    1. MDEA promises to save a minimum of 5% from BGE’s supply rate. Should they go under 5%, they will send you back to BGE for supply, and reassess when a better rate comes up. On average, MDEA clients save about $15/1000Kw per month, which is the equivalent of one whole bill per year. You will receive an email from MDEA once your paperwork has been processed to let you know what your expected savings will be.
  1. How does this differ from other suppliers?
    1. MDEA makes sure that you are always getting the best rate possible. Unlike other suppliers that will double, or triple their rate after the introductory rate, MDEA will always ensure that you are getting the best rate, and will switch suppliers for you, should the rate increase beyond the 5% savings.
